Event Dates: June 8th – June 15th, 2025
There is a reason the Alphonso mango is called the King of Mangoes. Rich, saffron-hued, almost obscenely fragrant — it arrives for just a few weeks each year and then it is gone. At Jehangir’s, we have spent weeks crafting a menu that does this extraordinary fruit the justice it deserves.
From June 8th to June 15th, our kitchen goes all in on Alphonso season. Six handcrafted dishes. Every one of them is a different expression of the same magnificent mango. Here is your complete guide to what to order, why each dish matters, and how to build the perfect Mango Fest meal.
“Celebrate the King of Mangoes with handcrafted seasonal flavours — available for one week only.”
Why Alphonso — and not any other mango?
The Alphonso (or Hapus) mango originates from the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, India. It is cultivated in a narrow geography — specific soil, specific breeze, specific humidity — which means it cannot truly be replicated anywhere else. Its flesh is nearly fibre-free, making it ideal for both creamy desserts and refreshing drinks. Its fragrance is legendary: floral, honeyed, with a faint hint of saffron.
At Jehangir’s, we source premium Alphonso pulp and whole mangoes each season to ensure every dish delivers the flavour that this variety promises at its peak.
Every dish on the Mango Fest menu, explained
Aamrit Alphonso Lassi — AED 22
Beverage · Start Here
A creamy yogurt smoothie blended with premium Alphonso mango pulp, lightly scented with cardamom and a whisper of saffron. The name says it all — Aamrit means nectar in Sanskrit. This is the drink to begin with. Cool, thick, fragrant, and subtly spiced, it sets the tone for everything that follows on the table.
Mango Mint Shikanji Spritz — AED 20
Beverage · Refresher
A bright, effervescent cooler built on raw mango and fresh mint — elevated with Indian spices, a squeeze of lemon, and a pour of sparkling fizz. The Shikanji is a classic Indian street drink; this version transforms it into something utterly celebratory. The tartness of raw mango plays brilliantly against the sweetness of the ripe Alphonso in other dishes — order both.
Royal Mango Avocado Papdi Chaat — AED 24
Starter · Must Try
Crispy papdi layered with ripe Alphonso mango, creamy avocado, cool yogurt, tangy chutneys, and a generous crown of sev. This dish is the most inventive on the menu — a traditional chaat framework that has no business being this elegant. The mango brings sweetness; the avocado, richness; the chaat masala, depth. Every bite hits a different note.
Alphonso Garden Salad — AED 26
Salad · Light Option
Fresh seasonal greens tossed with juicy Alphonso mango slices, cucumber, mixed herbs, and a light citrus dressing. A rarer dish on an Indian restaurant menu — and precisely why it works so well here. The Alphonso needs no help, but the citrus vinaigrette makes it feel effortlessly modern. An excellent choice for lighter appetites or as a counterpoint to the richer mains.
Puranik Aamras Puri — AED 26
Main · The Classic
Classic Indian festive-style Alphonso mango puree, served chilled, with fluffy golden puris. If there is one dish on this menu that represents everything the Mango Fest stands for, it is this one. Aamras Puri is a dish that Indian households make once a year — only when the Alphonso arrives. Ours follows the Puranik method: minimal intervention, maximum mango. The puri is fried fresh.
Malai Alphonso Kulfi — AED 22
Dessert · End on This
Slow-reduced creamy Indian kulfi, deeply infused with rich Alphonso mango and crowned with a garnish of crushed pistachio. The perfect close to a Mango Fest meal. Unlike ice cream, kulfi is denser, richer, and slower to melt — which means the mango flavour lingers long after the last bite. A dish that earns its place at the end of a table that has eaten very well.
How to order the perfect Mango Fest meal
- Start with the Mango Mint Shikanji Spritz to wake up the palate — its tartness prepares you for sweeter dishes to follow.
- Order the Royal Mango Avocado Papdi Chaat as your starter — it is the most textural dish on the menu and the best conversation-starter.
- For your main mango course, go with the Puranik Aamras Puri. This is the dish you come to Mango Fest for.
- Add the Alphonso Garden Salad as a shared side — it balances the richness of the chaat and the puri beautifully.
- Close to Malai Alphonso Kulfi. Always close with the Kulfi.
- The Aamrit Alphonso Lassi pairs beautifully throughout — order it alongside any dish and share.
One week. Six dishes. Don’t miss it.
The Alphonso mango season is not long. It arrives, fills every room it enters with that impossible fragrance, and then it is over for another year. The Jehangir’s Mango Fest is our way of marking that moment properly — with food that is crafted to honour an ingredient this extraordinary.
The festival runs from June 8th to June 15th, 2025, and the menu is available for dine-in. Reservations are recommended — this menu draws a crowd every year, and for good reason.
Come hungry. Come with family. And please, do not skip the Aamras Puri.
